Audio GuideParque da Bela Vista
Massive park with extensive lawned areas & tree-lined avenues, hosting big-name live music events.

Parque da Bela Vista is one of Lisbon’s largest green spaces. It stretches across gently rolling lawns lined with tall trees and wide avenues. Decades ago, this land was on the city’s rural edge and was mostly used for farming. As Lisbon grew, the area changed in the late twentieth century. It became a public park that welcomed everyone. Today, it reflects Marvila’s changing identity by blending old neighborhood charm with new energy. That is, young families and urban life are moving in.
The park’s design includes open fields, wooded corners, and walking paths. The landscape feels both natural and thoughtfully arranged. At its highest points, you can see sweeping views of the city, with Lisbon’s skyline shimmering in the background. Most days, the park is peaceful. However, it is world-famous as the site of Rock in Rio, which is one of Europe’s largest music festivals. Big names in music have performed here and filled the air with excitement, while thousands gather on the grass.
On ordinary afternoons, locals jog down shaded paths. Families picnic, and children play on well-kept sports courts and playgrounds. The park is home to native trees, birds, and wide meadows that change with the seasons. Compared to the city’s central tourist sites, Parque da Bela Vista offers a glimpse into everyday Lisbon. It is where green space, neighborhood life, and grand concerts come together.
