Estufa Fria is a stunning greenhouse nestled in Eduardo VII Park in Lisbon, Portugal. Opened in nineteen thirty-three and designed by the talented architect Raul Carapinha, it transformed a former basalt quarry into a lush botanical haven. As you enter, you are greeted by the cool, damp air and the rich scent of blooming flowers. The greenhouse is divided into three distinct sections: the Cold Greenhouse, the Hot Greenhouse, and the Sweet Greenhouse. The Cold Greenhouse, the largest area, features vibrant azaleas and camellias from around the world, its wooden slats creating a natural pattern of light and shade. In the Hot Greenhouse, tropical plants like coffee and mango thrive in the warmer environment, while the Sweet Greenhouse showcases hardy succulents such as cacti and aloe.

Throughout Estufa Fria, gentle waterfalls cascade into serene pools, and beautifully crafted statues by renowned Portuguese artists add an artistic touch to the landscape. In nineteen seventy-five, the Hot and Sweet Greenhouses were added, expanding the variety of plants and enhancing the garden's diversity. Between two thousand nine and two thousand eleven, extensive renovations ensured that Estufa Fria remained a vibrant and inviting space for visitors.

In two thousand sixteen, the Central Interpretive Center opened, offering exhibitions and activities that celebrate the botanical and ecological significance of the greenhouse. Today, Estufa Fria is a beloved attraction for tourists, providing a peaceful retreat where lush vegetation meets elegant architecture.
