Igreja do Santo Condestável stands proudly in Campo de Ourique, Lisbon. Built in a Neo-Gothic style, this church honors D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, a revered Portuguese general and patron saint known as Saint Nuno of Santa Maria. Designed by architect Vasco Regaleira, the church was inaugurated on August thirteenth, nineteen fifty-one, on the historic anniversary of Aljubarrota.

As you approach, the main facade showcases the royal coat of arms of the second dynasty and a sculptural group by Leopoldo de Almeida. The sculptures feature Saint Nuno flanked by angels, along with images of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint George. Entering the church, you'll admire vibrant stained glass by Almada Negreiros and a fresco in the main chapel depicting Saint Nuno's glorification, painted by Portela Junior.

Feel the coolness of the granite from Sintra contrasting with the white stone walls, reflecting both nobility and humility. The interior offers three naves with soaring central space and intricate arches. Under the altar lie the relics of Saint Nuno, crafted by Domingos Soares Branco.

Located at the crossroads of Saraiva de Carvalho and Francisco Metrass streets, the church is near the Campo de Ourique Market. Participate in Sunday masses at ten thirty in the morning or seven in the evening, or visit during weekdays at nine thirty. Guided tours are available by appointment, allowing you to explore its history, art, and serene atmosphere.
