The Andrade brothers crafted the design in the refined Portuguese Suave style, and the fountain is adorned with mesmerising sculptures by Maximiano Alves and Diogo de Macedo. Among these are the graceful Triton and enchanting mermaids, accompanied by intricate bas-reliefs by Jorge Barradas that illustrate themes of labour and the Tagus River.
